Figure 1. AWS SA-Pro cert earned this weekend. Lots of work but glad I did it!
I just finished up with my remaining AWS Professional-level certification yesterday by taking the Solutions Architect-Professional exam.
It required quite a bit of studying, and I'm glad I put in the effort I did! Along with strengthening my knowledge of core AWS compute, storage, and networking services, I also had to do some digging on services we don't necessarily use a lot at Ibotta (or services that I don't use a lot, because they're implemented by teams outside data engineering or analytics), including but not limited to:
It's a proud moment to have accomplished this, but I definitely don't want to rest too long on it. As part of my prep for the SA-Pro exam, I've started first stages of review for both the new Database Specialty and Advanced Networking Specialty exams.
I owe a lot of thanks to A Cloud Guru's courses on those subjects, as well as helping immensely with my SA-Pro prep! Their recently-overhauled interface and ongoing integration with Linux Academy is exciting and I'll look forward to trying out more features of the new platform in the near future!
It's been an exciting few weeks! I've gone ahead and passed my first 'professional'-level cloud certification exam (AWS DevOps Engineer-Pro), and I'm deep into review for the AWS Solutions Architect-Pro, Advanced Networking-Specialty, and Database-Specialty exams as well. I'll take the Architect-Pro exam a little under two weeks from now, and the other two exams within the next two months. I'm feeling strong on that front, but there's definitely much more review to get done.
Day-to-day data engineering engagement has been great too; I'm taking the lead on actively and aggressively optimizing our CCPA/PII provisioning and deletion processes at Ibotta by leveraging Bloom filters. I hope we can share out that progress via a blog post or conference presentation in the near future.
